Care Instructions

Despite its delicate look, Katie's work is exceedingly durable.

Having worked with this medium for a number of years Katie has a few helpful tips to keep your jewellery in tip top shape for years to come:

If the feather gets caught or snagged on clothing then it's really simple to straighten out.

  • Simply hold the feather part of your jewellery in a pair of tweazers and close over the spout of a boiling kettle so the steam rises over the feather.

  • For long straight feathers hold them straight or press them flat as they cool to maintain a better shape.

  • It sounds drastic and take care not to scold yourself or oversteam, but this really works and is amazing to watch as the feather springs back into shape.

  • In between use I would also recommend keeping the jewellery in the box provided.

To keep the silver shining as new simply rub the silver elements with a silver cloth taking care not to bend the feather's or kink the fine silver cable.
